Welcome! My name is Bethany Yon and I am both a trained opera singer/vocal instructor and a certified Birth Doula.

​

Through my music lens...

I have been enamored with the power, beauty and sense of connection of the human voice since childhood and pursued this fascination though the study of classical singing with a Bachelor of Music in Voice, a Master of Music in Performance & Literature and advanced work-study programs throughout Canada and in Europe. As an active performer in the musical community here at home,  I have and continue to perform with the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra, the Calgary Arts Orchestra, the Calgary Civic Symphony, the Calgary Concert Opera Company, Cowtown Opera, Mercury Opera and the Calgary Opera Chorus as well as Classical Revolution and the Calgary Pro Arts Society. I have been teaching  all levels and musical genres since 2012 and find great joy in helping students empower and connect to themselves through music.

Through my birth support lens...

Since the arrival of my oldest son Phoenix in May 2019, I have been captivated by birth and inspired by the amazing birth support community I was surrounded by through my own birth experiences. I strongly value the place of a doula in providing empowerment, comfort, strength, calm, support, and community to birthing people and families through the life changing experience of bringing a child into this world. As a certified Birth Doula through DONA International I am thrilled to be able to provide my services in this capacity and believe my experience as an artist, an educator and a mother have equipped me to serve the birthing community from a unique perspective. With a firm belief in the importance of empowerment, safety, holistic well-being and informed choice in preparation for and through labour and birth, I am excited to be your support.
